Tanya Lau O.D.
Optometric Physician
Dr. Tanya Lau is an optometric physician who provides comprehensive eye exams for all age groups at Griffey Eye Care. She specializes in the diagnosis and management of dry eye syndrome and glaucoma, perform specialty contact lens fittings such as rigid gas permeable and scleral lenses, and offer myopia control options, including orthokeratology and MiSight soft contact lenses. She works closely with ophthalmologists to manage postoperative care for LASIK, YAG laser, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular conditions, optic nerve disease, macular degeneration, and cataract patients.
Dr. Lau is a native of San Francisco, California. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, located in Santa Cruz. Dr. Lau went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry from Southern California College of Optometry at Marshall B. Ketchum University. Dr. Lau also had internships at Lawton Indian Health Hospital in Oklahoma, Palo Alto Veteran Affairs in California, and Camp Zama, United States Air Force Base in Japan.
Dr. Lau has donated her time to the Homeless Shelter Vision Clinic in Santa Ana, CA and the Special Olympics in Los Angeles and Irvine, CA. She has also worked internationally with different agencies in Honduras, El Salvador, and Tanzania, ensuring quality eye care is delivered to adults and children alike.
When not working, Dr. Lau spends her time with family, traveling, cooking, hiking, snowboarding, and playing sports.
Dr. Lau is excited to be relocating to the Hampton Roads area and will be accepting new patients at Griffey Eye Care’s Edinburgh location.
